The Challenge
When a rich product catalog becomes a barrier to purchase.
PosterAmsterdam is a Dutch professional print company producing high-quality posters entirely in-house — fine-art, backlit, and waterproof materials — with same-day dispatch across Europe. Their catalog is vast by design, but that very breadth was creating friction. With dozens of combinations across formats, materials, sizes, and finishes, customers were struggling to find their way to the right product. Drop-off was happening precisely where it shouldn't: at the point of decision.
The Work
A fully custom configurator, built natively on Shopify with zero compromises.
Eclipse designed and developed a bespoke product configurator integrated directly into the Shopify storefront — no third-party apps, no constraints. Built with Shopify's native architecture and custom code, the configurator guides users progressively through every variable: format, material, size, lamination, and quantity. Each selection updates the product preview and price in real time. Contextual tooltips educate buyers on material differences — backlit film, outdoor waterproof media, fine-art satin — directly at the moment of decision, removing the need to contact support or leave the page
The Result
Customization done right becomes a competitive advantage.
The configurator transformed one of PosterAmsterdam's biggest UX challenges into a measurable growth driver. Purchase hesitation dropped, average order value increased, and conversions saw a clear uplift shortly after launch. What was once a complex, intimidating catalog became an intuitive, confidence-building experience — one that works equally well for an individual artist ordering a single fine-art print and a business placing bulk display orders. Eclipse delivered not just a feature, but a strategic asset.
